DESCRIPTION
Bowl. Sasanian art, c. 224–651 AD.
Bronze.
Measurements: 14 cm in diameter; 4.5 cm in height.
Sasanian bronze bowl with an open body and hemispherical profile, belonging to the metallurgical tradition of pre-Islamic Iran. The piece has a simple, balanced shape, with a slightly flared rim and an interior bottom marked by a small circular protrusion.
Sasanian metalwork was renowned for the technical quality of its vessels, used in both prestigious contexts and in everyday or ceremonial settings. In this example, the absence of decoration allows one to particularly appreciate the purity of the form, the solidity of the material, and the harmony of the volume.
