Ionic capital

Ionic capital;
Carved stone.
Measurements: 18 x 22 x 22 cm.

A stone capital with a geometric composition, consisting of a quadrangular abacus with a molded profile and a lower section shaped like a truncated cone, topped with circular moldings. The front faces feature preserved ornamental motifs with curvilinear lines, including spiral shapes that evoke the volutes of the classical Ionic tradition.
The simplification of the decorative elements and the restraint of its modeling give the piece a schematic character, in which the architectural structure takes precedence over the ornamental details. Its design suggests a connection to the survival and reinterpretation of classical models in historical architecture.
