Bronze.
Provenance: private collection, Germany, assembled between 1960 and 1972.
Measurements: 5 cm tall.
Roman bronze statuette in the style of full-relief, depicting the god Mercury. He was the god of commerce, son of Jupiter and Maia Maiestas, and although his origins can be traced back to the Etruscan god Turms, most of his characteristics, such as his mythology, were borrowed from his Greek counterpart, Hermes.
