The "Akashi" belong to Bondi's star series. In this Toy combines two of the world's most recognizable cultural icons: Mickey Mouse and Mario Bros.
Enthusiast of the Art Toys world, Dave Bondi personally met the founder of Munkyking, the first store in Los Angeles dedicated exclusively to the sale of Vinyl Toys. It was there that he met Joe Ledbetter, Luke Chueh and Thomas Han, artists who, like him, were influenced by the same artistic movements of the time: Lowbrow, Pop Surrealism, Punk Rock, Hip Hop, Skater/Surf Culture, Anime/Manga, Cyberpunk and Industrial/Rave. This is how he started making his own Toys using a large format giclée printer. Dave used his experience as a video game artist and animator to sculpt Possessed for Luke Chueh and Mr. Bunny for Joe Ledbetter. Both figures sold out within 24 hours of release and are now part of the Designer Toy Hall of Fame.
