Anish Kapoor is a British sculptor of Indian origin, known for his large-scale public sculptures and his exploration of negative space and perception. His works often use materials such as mirrors, stone, or granite to manipulate form and spatial perception. He moved to London in the early 1970s. He studied art at Hornsey College of Art and the Chelsea School of Art. His work is on view in many museums around the world, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Hara Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo, the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C., the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the Stedelijk Museum. Her work can also be found at the UNAM University Museum of Contemporary Art in Mexico City.
