BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
Black Satsuma plate; Japan, Meiji period, late nineteenth century.
Glazed porcelain.
With mark.
Measurements: 31,5 cm diameter.
Black Satsuma style dish, with a matte black background and motifs brushed in gold, evoking the chromatic scheme of contemporary lacquer. Following the models of the European "istoriato", the plate appears decorated with a unitary scene, a landscape of traditional style with western influence, representing a garden with pagodas and Mount Fuji in the background.
