Pair of Haitangzun vases; China, first quarter of the twentieth century.
Enameled copper.
Measurements: 30 x 17,5 x 17,5 cm.
Haitangzun vases are named after the Begonia flower, a traditional floral motif used consistently in different categories of Chinese decorative art. It is formed by lobed sections with a concave neck and a reverse floral border on a low flared foot. In this particular case the two pieces feature the same design with lotus and tendril decoration, peonies and ruyi.
