BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
Japanese embroidery. Meiji period, 19th century.
"Warrior".
In wool and silk with small details of gold thread.
It presents restorations and faults.
Measurements. 161 x 108 cm; 174 x 120 cm (frame).
The embroidery has used silk threads in ochre and sienna tones that accentuate the melancholic and withdrawn atmosphere that the scene intends to communicate. The craftsman shows a bold mastery of embroidery, even simulating what could be a painting on wood. Japanese textile artists of this period have never been surpassed.
