BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
Vase; China, early 20th century.
Glazed porcelain "Ox blood".
Presents restorations.
Measurements: 43 x 19 x 19 cm.
Porcelain vase with a round base, broad shoulders, cylindrical neck and an exvasada mouth, covered by the dark red glaze that gives its name to the Ox Blood style. The glaze is applied irregularly, allowing the color to run down the surface of the piece, accumulating and creating a naturalistic appearance. The "Oxblood" glaze (copper oxide and firing in a reducing atmosphere), has been used in China since the eleventh century, and since the eighteenth century will be applied as we see here, with accumulations and irregularities.
