DESCRIPTION
Warrior on horseback. China, early 20th century.
Enameled white porcelain white China style.
Measurements: 36 x 24 x 18 cm.
White porcelain sculpture representing a Chinese warrior standing, leading and guiding his horse. The male figure appears dressed in traditional clothing and weaponry, showing a firm and solemn posture, with serene expression and restrained dignity. The horse, arranged next to the warrior, is represented with naturalism and balance, reinforcing the relationship of dominion and companionship between rider and mount. The whole sits on a base integrated into the composition, which brings stability and formal unity to the scene.
The piece belongs to the tradition of white monochrome porcelains known as Dehua or "Chinese white", produced mainly in the province of Fujian. This type of porcelain, with its characteristic ivory tone and smooth, satiny texture, was highly appreciated both in the local and European markets, where it was widely diffused under the name of blanc de Chine.
