The Retourne version of the coveted Kelly bag, which literally means "inverted", is distinguished by its soft silhouette, being more flexible than other models such as the Kelly Sellier. This model is recognizable by its design that allows the bag to "bend" or "twist", giving it a more casual and elegant look. It has a detachable shoulder strap that allows hands-free carrying, an aspect that makes it very practical and popular.

Designed in 1935, this Hermès model ended up being called Kelly when Grace Kelly appeared wearing it in 1956 in a photograph published in "Life" magazine, in which she used the bag to hide her pregnancy. It takes about eighteen hours to make, and is made by a single person, from start to finish.
