The history of the Satellite 53 model is intrinsically linked to the introduction of Louis Vuitton's Taiga leather line, which marked an important milestone for the French luxury house. This line was significant because it represented the first leather collection designed exclusively for men by Louis Vuitton. The name "Taiga" comes from the Russian word for the vast expanses of coniferous forests in Siberia, evoking a sense of nature, ruggedness and masculine sophistication. Taiga leather is a fine-grained cowhide known for its durability and textured, slightly glossy finish. Unlike the brand's iconic Monogram canvas, Taiga leather offered a more understated and understated luxury, suitable for business and professional use.
The firm was founded by Louis Vuitton (1821-1892), and the first store opened in Paris in 1854. Forty-two years later, his son, Georges Vuitton, designed the "Monogram" print, which includes the initials "LV" and has become a true icon of the firm. Today it is considered the most exclusive luxury brand in the world.
