The Haut à Courroies model is the direct predecessor of the Birkin and one of the fundamental designs in the history of Hermès leather goods. Originally conceived as a large-format equestrian bag, its vertical silhouette and rigid structure respond to a technical functionality that evolved into an icon of contemporary luxury.
This piece, manufactured in 1970, belongs to the classic period prior to the creation of the Birkin (1984), which places it within a period particularly appreciated by collectors. The natural grain leather develops over time a characteristic patina that reinforces its character and authenticity, while the golden hardware underlines its timeless aesthetics.
A representative example of the Hermès craftsmanship tradition and of the historical genealogy of one of the most influential models of 20th century leather goods.
