This lot consists of the NFT titled Lil Skully and the sculpture of the same name created by "Crypto Kings", a company born from the collaboration between Antoni Tudisco and Phiipp Plein. The artwork is part of the Lil Monster's Gang series of six different creations of three pieces each. The series was launched in 2022 at the M.o.N.A. (NFT ART MUSEUM) in Plein Plaza in Decentraland (METAVERSO). A space created by Philipp Plein and Antoni Tudisco, as an open forum for the development and promotion of digital art aimed at fostering and showcasing young NFT artists. The opening included a guided tour of Plein's immersive art world in the Metaverse, along with an exhibition of a series of NFTs. For the opening, the six monsters were also created in a physical way; Lil Boo, Lil Cyclops, Lil Diablo, Lil Godzilla, Lil Sharky and Lil Skully. In order to get one of the NFTs, each user had to participate in a game in which they collected each of the designs. If a player collected all 6 pixel monsters, the dynamics of the game offered the user the option to burn them in order to exchange them for a physical Monster Gang sculpture. In this particular case, the complete piece is made up of the NFT and the resin sculpture with an electrolytic chrome finish.
Philipp Plein is a German-born fashion designer who opened his first shop in 2009. From 2020 the firm introduced the use of cryptocurrency as a method of payment and in 2021 began its relationship with the artist Antoni Tudisco. Despite his youth, Tudisco is an experienced artist who has collaborated with numerous brands including Nike, Coca-Cola and Louis Vuitton, among others. He studied web design and development software, starting to work in painting and illustration, but soon created his own virtual space. In his own words "When I started doing online graphics, I shared my whole process on my social networks like Facebook, Twitter and even LinkedIn. Then I discovered Behance: from there, some big brands and agencies started contacting me for campaigns and projects. Behance is an online platform where creatives upload all their creations and content, and I was lucky enough to be published several times on the homepage. Some brands contacted me and said they wanted something similar to what I did for my personal projects.
