Decorative tapestry in the style of the Catalan School of Tapestry, a movement that emerged around the Casa Aymat in Sant Cugat del Vallès, a key center for the renewal of Catalan textile art during the second half of the 20th century. Under the leadership of Josep Grau-Garriga, the tapestry ceased to be viewed as a mere decorative surface and became a plastic, material, and, at times, almost sculptural object.
This piece embodies that spirit of renewal through a composition rich in tactile texture, organized around strips, woven modules, knots, fringes, and textile volumes. The warm palette of ochres, earth tones, oranges, browns, and cream shades reinforces its organic character, while the varying densities of the fiber create a vibrant surface with a strong mural presence.
Its appeal lies precisely in this combination of craftsmanship, material, and contemporary language. Without straying from the textile tradition, the tapestry takes on an autonomous sculptural dimension here, reminiscent of the experimental atmosphere that made Sant Cugat one of the key centers of modern tapestry in Catalonia.
