DESCRIPTION
Set of 11 beams from the 13th century.
Carved wood with remains of polychrome.
Measurements: 21 x 94 x 13 cm approx. each one.
Group of 11 Romanesque beams probably from the ceiling of a monastery hall or other religious architecture. With thick strokes, the drawings are stylized and inscribed in borders, with a predominance of red and ochre tones. The polychrome decorates three of its sides, and is based on variations of stylized flowers. The beams combine flat sections and curved profile moldings in their carving. The cut-outs in the wood harmonize with the sinuosity of the vegetal stems of the paintings. Some of them present one of the ends carved in the form of navetas, which indicates that they could have functioned as corbels or cornices.
