DESCRIPTION
Galloned bottle. Roman Empire, I-III centuries AD.
Blown glass.
Provenance: Gros & Delettrez Auctions.
It has an export permit.
Measurements: 21,5 x 15 x 15 cm.
Roman bottle in blown glass, with globular body gallonado globular body, cylindrical neck elevated and mouth exvasada with reinforced lip. The piece retains a beautiful surface iridescence, with green, blue, gold and pearly shades, the natural result of the alteration of the ancient glass after centuries of burial.
Its shape corresponds to a typology widely spread in the Roman world between the first and third centuries AD, intended for the storage and pouring of liquids, ointments or aromatic substances.
The surface shows patina, incrustations and wear in accordance with the antiquity, elements that reinforce its material authenticity and its archaeological attractiveness. A piece of great charm, in which the original functionality of Roman glass is now transformed into historical presence, texture and luminosity.
