African dignitary cane, first half of the twentieth century.
Wood, leather, horn, rhinestones.
Exhibits wear consistent with age and use and some missing stones.
Measurements: 96 cm. height.
African baton. The typology corresponds to a tribal dignitary's staff. An impressive zoomorphic mask is represented at the start of the handle: two antlers, large ivory teeth and red stones set in the slanted eye sockets give it an intimidating expression. Gemstone rings alternate with wood carved sections and leather wrappings along the shaft.
