DESCRIPTION
Pair of vases of the Rose Family. Canton. China, 19th century.
Enameled and gilded porcelain.
Presents a break in the mouth of one of the vases.
Measurements: 45 (height) x 22 cm (diameter).
Pair of vases of Canton Rose Family style. This type of Chinese porcelain is characterized by the predominance of light and very bright tones, especially pink and green, but also golden yellow, as we can see here. It is a style typical of ceramics exported to Europe, developed mainly during the second half of the 19th century. It is an ornate and very ornamental style. Thanks to the discovery of the white glaze, Chinese potters expanded the palette, achieving new tonal ranges that allowed them to adjust more to European tastes. Within the Canton Rose Family there are three styles: pink medallion, nonya or straits and the Mandarin style.
