DESCRIPTION
Buddha. Burma, XIX century.
Alabaster.
It shows wear typical of age.
Measurements: 40 x 27 x 16 cm (figure); 4,5 x 16 x 10 cm (pedestal).
Carved alabaster sculpture of a seated Buddha in the position of the lotus flower or Padmasana. With his hands he performs the Dhyana mudra, which promotes the energy of meditation, deep contemplation and unity with the higher energy. His features are serene and peaceful, with a firm forehead, a sketched smile and half-open eyes with a frontal gaze. The roundness of his hairless head visually highlights his earlobes, which are elongated due to his princely youth, when he wore heavy gold earrings.
