Gargoyle or idol from a temple on the island of Sulawesi, Indonesia. Represented completely naked with the sex uncovered. In the region of Sulawesi have been found idols related to fertility, which are part of the ancient animistic traditions of the indigenous peoples of the region, such as the Toraja and Bugis. They could be linked to agricultural and reproductive rituals, seeking the protection of the spirits and the blessing for the fertility of the land, animals and people.
