Small Chinese style folding screen. PIERRE LOTTIER style (1916-1987), ca.1950.

Exhibits sligthly wear consistent with age and use and slight flaws.

Two-leaf folding screen, of European and Chinese style, made around the middle of the 20th century. The panels, lacquered in green and gold tones, show delicate landscape scenes inspired by oriental tradition: villages with houses and pagodas, bridges, gardens and figures of peasants and birds that add dynamism and charm to the composition. The work follows models similar to those of Pierre Lottier, known for his refined western interpretation of chinoiseries, combining bucolic landscapes and evocations of oriental exoticism on lacquered surfaces.
