"The Hacker Project" was a collaboration between the luxury fashion houses Gucci and Balenciaga, in which the aesthetic languages of both brands are intertwined to give rise to hybrid creations that mix distinctive elements of each. This proposal, presented in April 2021, stands out for offering new versions of emblematic designs, promoting a provocative dialogue around themes such as appropriation, imitation and brand identity.
The collection includes clothing and accessories that fuse symbols characteristic of the two firms: for example, the classic Gucci monogram printed on typical Balenciaga silhouettes, or the use of Balenciaga typography on Gucci items. This creative experiment reflects on concepts such as copying, reinterpretation and authenticity within the high-end fashion universe.
