DESCRIPTION
Sculptural group. Central Europe, first half of the 20th century.
Hand-painted porcelain.
Size: 17 x 34 x 12 cm.
This sculptural group represents a horse-drawn coach with coachman. With a gallant theme and eighteenth-century setting, it is directly inspired by Meissen porcelain sculpture from the 18th century, both in its careful modelling and its polychromy and in the dynamic and rotating composition itself, which invites the spectator to surround the piece to contemplate the scene as a whole. This type of sculpture is contemporary and very similar to the pictorial genre known as "de casacones", scenes worked with a precious and descriptive workmanship set in the 17th and 18th centuries, very much to the taste of the clientele of the second half of the 19th century.
