The Legras firm was founded by Auguste Jean-François Legras (1817 - 1887) around 1864 in St. Denis, near Paris. At the beginning of the 20th century, the firm specialized in the production of acid-etched cameo glass, inspired by Gallé pieces. Legras & Cie. produced a multitude of pieces for sale, as well as several of special quality for exhibition at international fairs. His works are not always signed, but his style often makes them easily recognizable.
