Sumptuous pair of porcelain vases painted in cobalt blue, an example of the refined taste that characterized the decorative production of Sèvres inspiration in France at the end of the 19th century. The pieces stand on delicate gilded bronze mounts, richly chiseled.
Each body, slender and of neoclassical elegance, displays on one of its sides a gallant scene housed in medallions: a young couple abandons itself to amorous confidence in an idealized garden, whose shades are enlivened against the depth of the cobalt blue. On the opposite side, bucolic landscapes complete the visual narrative, extending the gaze towards pastoral horizons.
The exquisiteness of the handles stands out, conceived as busts of winged women, graceful sphinxes that prolong the line of the neck of the vases. These classical figures, at the same time protective and sensual, give the whole a subtle allegorical dimension.
The top and bottom of each vase are topped with gilded bronze mounts, whose meticulous gold work testifies to the expertise of the Parisian workshops of the Belle Époque.
