DESCRIPTION

Viola Montana L ceramic plate by ROYAL COPENHAGEN DENMARK, 20th century.
Porcelain with hand-painted and gilded decoration.
With stamps on the back.

The one we are now bidding on is from Royal Copenhagen's Flora Danica collection, based on a table service commissioned in 1790 by Crown Prince Frederick of Denmark as a diplomatic gift for Catherine the Great of Russia. The table service is based on a comprehensive botanical atlas of the same name, documenting all the wild plants native to Denmark and Norway.

Royal Copenhagen, officially Royal Porcelain Factory (Den Kongelige Porcelænsfabrik) was founded in the Danish capital in May 1775 under the protection of Queen Juliane Marie.
