DESCRIPTION
BOHEMIA decanter bottle, mid-twentieth century.
Colorless glass cut to the wheel.
Silver mouthpiece, with hallmarks.
Measurements: 39 cm (height).
This Bohemian decanter bottle is a representative example of the Central European tradition of wheel cut crystal, a technique with a long history in the Bohemian workshops since the 18th century.
The piece presents a colorless crystal body of remarkable purity, decorated with a deep cut rhomboidal pattern that generates prismatic effects and play of light characteristic of Bohemian production. The neck, also carved in vertical grooves, is crowned with an elegant faceted stopper, whose design reinforces the verticality and brilliance of the whole.
The silver clutch, provided with official hallmarks, introduces an element of distinction typical of pieces intended for refined use, combining the luminosity of the crystal with the brilliance of the noble metal. This integration of materials was common in high quality European glassware of the twentieth century, especially in tableware intended for serving fine liquors.
