This Art Deco vase made by the prestigious house Daum is a magnificent example of the French glassmaking mastery of the early twentieth century. It has an elongated cylindrical shape, with marked vertical lines and rounded volume, reflecting the Art Deco taste for geometry, structure and sober elegance.

It is executed in molded glass, with a rich amber and brown hue, dotted with lighter shades that create a grainy and deep, almost mineral effect. The surface shows relief work running down the body of the glass, providing rhythm and an architectural feel very characteristic of the period.

The Daum house, founded in Nancy in 1878 by Jean Daum, is one of the most important manufactures in the history of French art glass. Initially linked to Art Nouveau, the firm evolved with great success towards Art Deco during the 1920s and 1930s, adapting its decorative language to more refined, geometric and modern forms.
