This collection of 19 nineteenth-century pieces made by the Sèvres manufacture acquires special interest due to the use of cobalt blue enamel, also known as "Bleu de Sèvres". To this chromatic excellence is added the refined gilt ornamentation that embellishes and defines the volumes of the pieces. As for its dating, the set stands out for having been made in the second half of the 19th century, a time of effervescence of the Sèvres manufacture.

More than a color, Bleu de Sèvres is a standard of chemical perfection. In the 18th century, making a cobalt blue uniform (without spots or bubbles) on a large surface was an immense technical challenge. Sèvres was the first manufacture to master it, creating a visual identity that influenced all other factories (such as Meissen or Chelsea). This enameling became the hallmark of the Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres. It is arguably the most famous color in the history of European ceramics.
