A draughtsman, engraver and painter, Nogués trained at the Borrell academy and at the Colarossi and Viti academies in Paris. He exhibited at the Sala Parés as a member of the Association of Catalan Painters and Sculptors (1905), and combined painting with disciplines such as posters, illustration and even designs for ceramics. He collaborated with publications such as "Hojas Selectas", "Papitu", the "Almanac dels Noucentistes", "L'Esquella de la Torraxta" and "Picarol", among many other leading magazines of the time. He also published sets of illustrations. From 1909 onwards he also devoted himself to engraving, excelling especially in etching, aquatint and drypoint. He is currently represented in the Nogués Foundation, as well as in the National Art Museum of Catalonia and others.
In this drawing, the painter shows, with obvious satirical and comic intent, "the three states of the pig", from the living animal walking resignedly alongside its deceased companions, to the basket full of sausages and other cold meats.
