Félix Herráez, painter from Madrid, appears in his work as a landscape painter as an attentive observer. That is why impressionism and constructive, agile and chromatic, have in his canvases such wide manifestations. But Herráez subtracts himself from many outside influences to create his own work; a work that is characterized by a serenity, a demanding study of environments where the realistic impression is always exalted by the greatest richness of color. Herráez appears before the landscapes as an expectant that sees in them the maximum serenity. In his paintings he flees from the dramatic, the fleeting, to give presence to a pleasant restlessness that is always accompanied by the most intimate poetry. Félix Herráez then approaches aspects of diverse landscapes of Spain; they clarify his palette, resulting in the conceptual unity of the painter of the serene nature being increased by the interest of variety. Herraez would recognize Joaquín Sorolla on several occasions throughout his life, who would guide him in the very difficult genre of watercolor, in which Herráez stood out with his own light, becoming an accomplished and recognized master. The search for the quick and direct sketch of the natural would mark his production and his vision of artistic work as a painter. Far away, like his master, from studio painting and artificial light, Herráez moved with easel and paints to the various locations he wished to capture in his works, thus following the trends of a late impressionism, which in Spain came to be known as Luminism, of which Sorolla would be its most prominent representative.
