Grandson of Pere Borrell del Caso, and son and disciple of Juli Borrell Pla, Pere Borrell Bertrán began to be known in the thirties, through several exhibitions in the Layetanas Galleries of Barcelona. After the war he enjoyed a special renown in Madrid, where he had settled in 1944 after marrying the Polish Linka Babecka. Carmen Laforet dedicated her first novel, "Nada" (1945), winner of the Nadal Prize, to the two of them. In 1952 a large posthumous exhibition was dedicated to Borrell Bertrán, held at the Palace of Libraries and Museums in Madrid.
