MÁXIMO PEÑA (Soria, 1883-1941).
"Maternity".

Signed in the lower left corner.
Measurements: 73 x 52 cm; 94 x 72 cm (frame).

Disciple of the painter Casto Plasencia, in 1883 he was pensioned by the Diputaciones de Soria to be able to study in Madrid and later in Rome, where his stay lasted three years. The great training he acquired during his youth, earned him several medals of artistic awards between 1887 and 1901. He was decorated with the order of Carlos III and exhibited in several galleries, being his first individual exhibition in 1915 in the Salón Iturrioz in Madrid, which was followed by many others such as the Salón del Cano in Madrid in 1940.
