In 1863 he moved to Karlsruhe and, after 1867, opened a studio in Berlin. He participated in the Great Berlin Art Exhibition in 1895 with six paintings. His works can now be found, among other places, in the municipal art collections of Chemnitz and in the Hunting Palace in Grunewald.
