Sarsanedas began his training at the Ateneo de Girona, and then completed his studies at the Círculo Artístico de Sant Lluc, in Barcelona. In the sixties he opened a studio in Barcelona, and came into contact with the avant-garde artistic environment of the city. From 1970 onwards he spent long periods in Paris, where he visited museums and galleries and painted oil paintings and gouaches of the Seine, the Latin Quarter, Montparnasse, etc. In fact, Paris has always been a great source of inspiration for Sarsanedas. In 1978 he took a fresco painting course at the International School of Mural Painting in Sant Cugat del Vallès (Barcelona). His travels and stays in Spain and various European countries, as well as in North Africa, America, Russia and Asia, will mark his later work. Sarsanedas made his individual debut in 1974, in the Jaimes gallery in Barcelona, and since then he has shown his work regularly in different galleries in Catalonia, Madrid, the Balearic Islands and Asturias, and outside Spain in galleries and fairs such as the International Biennial of Contemporary Art in Florence and the Beumers gallery in Aachen (Germany), among others. During the eighties he settled definitively in Barcelona. Currently, Benet Sarsanedas is represented at the Pinacoteca Municipal Llegat Francesc Galí in Palamós (Girona).
