The watercolors of Francisco Ruiz Morales stand out for their chromatic delicacy and the way they capture both the essence of urban landscapes and rural life. In them we can appreciate a style that dialogues with the costumbrista tradition and the landscape painting of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, combining a nostalgic look with the freshness of the watercolor technique. The city of Granada was one of his favorite subjects: Moorish arches, balconies and tile roofs, figures dressed in traditional costumes and cobblestone streets make up his idyllic scenes. In other watercolors, he places us in rural settings. Country life is depicted with naturalness: farm animals, horsemen, hills covered with vegetation and mountains that close the horizon.
