DESCRIPTION

VICENTE COLOM (Valencia, 1940).
"Church of the Santos Juanes".
Mixed media on cardboard.
Signed in the lower right corner.
Measurements: 75 x 56 cm, 100 x 79 cm (frame).
Trained in the printing house of Luis Farinetti under the watchful eye of Ernest Furió, he combined the activity of the workshop with his studies at the School of Fine Arts of San Carlos in his hometown. In 1965 he moved to Paris, where he decided to perfect his pen drawing, working on volumes through the use of light and shadow. Colom became interested in the study of moving figures such as musicians or dancers. Later, in the early eighties, he worked with oil and wax, combining these techniques with the pen, resulting in nudes and portraits of expressionist style. His favorite subjects were scarecrows, pants, harlequins and hammocks, capturing different perspectives of each object or form.
His career has always been shaped by his personality and artistic tastes, ignoring the movements that during his development as an artist have been appearing and imposing themselves, such as Art Pop or Hyperrealism. He combined his artistic facet with his career as a decorator and antique dealer.
Much of the work of Vicente Colom is preserved in the Valencian Institute of Modern Art (IVAM), as well as in private collections.
