Table lamp, 1960s.
White opaline glass and metal.
Measurements: 45x 30 x 30 x 30 cm.
Table lamp designed by the Italian Goffredo Reggiani. It responds to a Space Age typology of the sixties, a style in which Reggiani occupied a stellar place. The globular screen sits on a cylindrical base with concave walls. The result is elegant, within a futuristic aesthetic.
Goffredo Reggiani is one of the most iconic names in mid-century modern Italian design. Reggiani is known for his futuristic-looking lamp designs that emerged as an aesthetic response to the space age that began in the late 1960s. Sputnik and globe shapes, as well as elongated ovals, are motifs that recur in his designs. The Reggiani firm was founded in the 1950s, focusing on the production of decorative lamps. The first models will be creations of the founder himself, Goffredo Reggiani, who himself manually made the first prototypes. He soon began collaborations with artists, architects and technicians, and in the 1970s production was extended to technical lighting, where scientific research was combined with aesthetics.
