MIGUEL MILÁ (Barcelona, 1931-Bilbao, 2024).
Table lamp, Model WT, 1962.
Methacrylate, double lampshade.

Unblemished lampshade.
Measurements: 64 - 80 cm (adjustable height); 45 cm (lampshade diameter).
Table lamp designed in 1962 by Miguel Milá and produced by Polinax. The WT lamp is the same model, in its table version, as the WT suspension lamp for which Milá received the Delta de Plata award. It is characterized by its unique two-color shade with sinuous curves made of injected methacrylate, red on the outside and cream or ivory on the inside. The foot integrates an adjustable rod that allows the height to be adjusted.
When nobody in Spain knew what it was to be a designer, even though, as we all know now, any object is designed (with or without a signature behind it), Miguel Milá was already a designer, that is, he tried to make everyday objects make our lives easier and happier, which are the basis of all innovation. To innovate is to set in motion an imaginative and productive chain: to imagine new forms and new uses and to make it possible, through craftsmanship and industry, to bring them to fruition, choosing the right materials and techniques. He did it from the beginning, that's why he is a master. Many of his pieces were born predestined to become iconic, such as the Cesta (1962), TMM and TMC (1961) lamps.
