DESCRIPTION
RON ARAD (Israel, 1951) for Driade.
Set of two chairs "Zigo".1992.
Chromed steel and rattan.
Measurements: 79 x 43 x 59 cm.
Set of two armchairs or dining chairs Model Zigo, by designer Ron Arad for the Italian publisher Driade. It consists of a curvilinear tubular structure, endowed with great resistance despite its lightness, which bends and coils as if it were a wire. Formally, Arad's design is soft and sinuous, seductive, which in this model also seeks the contrast between the coldness of matte metal and the handcrafted warmth of rattan.
Industrial designer Ron Arad trained in Jerusalem and London, and throughout his career he has collaborated with prestigious firms such as Kartell, Flos, Artemide, Vitra and Alessi. He has also exhibited his work all over the world, and in fact many of his designs are now in important collections, including the Metropolitan Museum in New York, the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and the Vitra Design Museum in Germany.
