These two black wrought iron candlesticks present a sober and refined silhouette, faithful to the aesthetics of Jean-Michel Frank. With pure lines, balanced proportions and elegant austerity, their design reveals an understanding of the quiet luxury that characterized the work of the celebrated French designer. The lightly hammered texture of the iron brings a subtle material richness.
Jean-Michel Frank was an influential French interior designer known for his minimalist, elegant and timeless style. Despite a life marked by personal tragedies and exile, Frank left a profound mark on 20th century design. His work was characterized by the use of noble materials such as parchment, sharkskin, and rusted metals, combined with simple forms and no superfluous ornamentation. He was a friend and collaborator of artists such as Salvador Dalí and Alberto Giacometti, whose works he incorporated into his interiors. His vision redefined the concept of luxury, moving away from decorative excess towards an aesthetic of purity and quiet sophistication.
