The Taraxacum 88 pendant lamp is a milestone in Achile Castiglioni's career, bringing together a multitude of globe-shaped bulbs in a cluster formation, resulting in a unique pendant lamp that adds a real sense of drama to any interior. The fixture features a polished aluminum base, surrounded by a multitude of sockets housing bulbs. This fixture does not feature a diffuser shade, but instead leaves the bulbs exposed for unbridled illumination. Each fixture houses 60 individual oversized bulbs, meaning it is ideal for bringing bags of light to any interior; perfect for more contemporary homes and commercial spaces.
An Italian architect and industrial designer, considered one of the founding fathers of design in Italy, Achille Castiglioni trained at the Politecnico di Milano. In 1944 he completed his studies and joined the studio formed by his brothers Pier Giacomo and Livio. Finally, in 1952 Livio left the group to continue his career independently. Until Pier Giacomo's early death in 1968, the two brothers collaborated on numerous designs. Achille was a professor at the Politecnico di Torino and at the Politecnico di Architettura e Design Industriale di Milano, where he supervised the thesis of the Asturian designer Patricia Urquiola. Throughout his career he has been awarded important prizes, such as the Disseny de Barcelona in 1993. His work is currently represented in leading museums such as the MoMA in New York.
