DESCRIPTION
CINI BOERI (Milan, 1924) for Artemide.
Pair of sconces "Accademia", design 1978.
Enameled steel.
Lampshade included.
Measurements: 40 x 56 x 58 cm.
Pair of sconces or wall lamps that fuse geometry, functionality and an exquisite material sensibility, typical of Italian design of the late 1970s. The flat diffuser attenuates the light and allows a soft, homogeneous illumination. It is a bold, minimalist and refined design.
Italian designer Cini Boeri studied at the Milan Polytechnic, graduating in 1951. She began her professional activity independently in 1963, after a period of collaboration with Marco Zanuso, and dedicated herself to architecture and design work. He has designed houses, apartments and commercial premises both in Italy and abroad, paying particular attention to the functionality of space in small houses, as well as to the psychological relationships between man and his environment. Examples of his work can now be seen in museums and exhibitions around the world. Throughout her career she has received numerous awards, including the Compasso d'Oro in 1979 and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Italian Cultural Institute in Los Angeles in 2008.
