DESCRIPTION
Pair of garden armchairs in wrought iron, following models by Mario Papperzini. Italy, 1950s-60s.
Made of wrought iron, later painted white, with geometric lines and high backrest, reclining, square grid. The arched arms, linked by fine metal chains, and the spherical ends at the apexes provide a sculptural and light air, characteristic of Italian modernist-inspired design of the mid-twentieth century.
This model is in the tradition of Mario Papperzini's outdoor furniture for Salterini, where structural rationality is combined with neoclassical elegance.
Measurements: 110 × 80 × 58 cm.
These armchairs present clear similarities to the wrought iron loungers by designer Mario Papperzini for John Salterini, a line of furniture that the Italian designer named "Amalfi" after the Amalfi coast in southern Italy.
