DESCRIPTION
Table lamp type "Diabolo". Italy, 1950's.
Brass ball joint and movable arm.
Dark cerulean blue lacquer.
Presents flaws in the lacquer.
Measurements: 60 x 40 x 16 cm.
Table lamp type Diabolo with reflector articulated by ball joint. The lampshade and the base have a greenish or glaucous blue lacquer. The Diabolo model was pioneered in the mid-century by French designers René Mathieu (who worked for Lunel) and Pierre-Guariche. Both of these designers designed lampshades in the shape of the "diabolo" (the name comes from the game with ropes and sticks), using elegant lines with metal as the base material.
