Ceiling lamp in green blown murrine glass from the "Neverrino" series, designed by Gae Aulenti. Manufactured by the famous Murano house Vistosi in the 1970s, this chandelier is a clear example of the designer's talent and creativity. The murrina is a glass technique in which different colors are combined to create a unique pattern. In the case of the "Neverino" ceiling lamp, blown glass with green and yellow murrine is complemented by a lattimo edge applied on transparent green glass, resulting in a unique color combination that enhances the beauty of the glass.
Gaetana Aulenti studied at the Faculty of Architecture at the Politecnico di Milano, graduating in 1954. Aulenti is one of the few women who have left a deep and sometimes controversial mark on international architecture, as well as on theatrical scenography and industrial design. Among her most outstanding architectural projects are the renovations of the Palazzo Grassi in Venice and the Musée d'Orsay in Paris, which led to many subsequent commissions, such as the Italian Pavilion at the 1992 Universal Exposition in Seville and the renovation of the National Palace of Montjuïc (Barcelona), the current home of the MNAC.
Born into a family of Murano dedicated to the production of art glass, Luciano Vistosi runs since 1952 the family factory, with which collaborated prestigious designers such as Aulenti, Magistretti, Sottsass and Mangiarotti, among others. He held his first solo exhibition in 1968 at the Alfieri Gallery in Venice, at a time when he has already completely focused his designs on the expressive possibilities of blown glass. Subsequently also work the sculpture on glass block.
