Alberto Donà began his career in the field of artistic glass at an early age, joining the workshop at the age of thirteen. His training was developed in direct contact with various master glassmakers, experience that was extended with a period of work abroad, particularly in Venezuela. Among the figures who had the greatest influence on his technical and aesthetic development was the master "Nane" Ferro, recognized in Murano during the 1960s for his exceptional skill and talent.
In the early 1970s, Donà established his own kiln, thus consolidating a personal production that soon gained recognition. His renown is largely due to his mastery of color and the ability to elaborate chromatic combinations of remarkable originality. Also, one of the distinctive features of his work is the monumental scale that manages to print many of his pieces, which has given him a special place in the panorama of contemporary glass.
These qualities led to the interest of prestigious firms such as Venini & C., Reflex and Saporiti, which turned to Donà for the realization of glass components and accessories. Towards the end of the 1980s, his prestige also attracted the collaboration of various artists, broadening the scope and recognition of his production.
The work of Alberto Donà has been part of many international exhibitions. In October 2001 he presented a solo show at the Vassel Art Gallery in London. In addition, he was selected to design the lighting for the Hiroshima Memorial Museum, a commission that demonstrates the projection and appreciation of his work on a global scale.
