DESCRIPTION

FEDERICO CORREA (1924-2020) & ALFONSO MILÁ (1924-2009) for Gres.
Sideboard "Lago", 60's.
Measurements: 74 x 167 x 42 cm.

For this sideboard the tandem of designers Federico Correa and Alfonso Milá was inspired by the Danish design of the 50s and 60s. Thus, it is a piece of furniture of harmonic proportions and geometric structure, with clean lines, whose design avoids being too monolithic and heavy by incorporating two running legs perpendicular to the structure. Two rows of four drawers each preside over the sides, while the center of the unit is defined by two doors.

The tandem of Catalan architects Federico Correa and Alfonso Milá, both born in 1924, were one of the most outstanding references of the Modern Movement in the second half of the 20th century. Correa and Milá followed the slogan that interior and industrial design were part of the same architectural project. Collaborators of José Antonio Coderch, they founded their own studio in 1953. Architecture of summer houses in Cadaqués, institutional and residential buildings, sports stadiums, factories and offices, interior design for the legendary restaurants FlashFlash or Il Giardinetto and singular and iconic design pieces to equip their own works and for furniture companies such as Gres.
