DESCRIPTION
ANDERS PEHRSON (Sweden, 1912-1982) for ATELJÉ LYKTAN
Tuben floor lamp designed by Anders Pehrson for Ateljé Lyktan in Sweden in the 1970s.
Tubular structure in red lacquered metal, with circular base and integrated horizontal arm.
Measurements: Height 120 cm × Width 30 cm × Depth 77 cm.
Outstanding floor lamp designed by Anders Pehrson, one of the key figures of Scandinavian design of the twentieth century and responsible for consolidating the international identity of the Swedish firm Ateljé Lyktan. The Tuben model is a clear example of his rational and functional approach, in which form, function and color are coherently integrated.
The lamp has a continuous tubular structure, with an elegant vertical development culminating in a horizontal arm intended for directed lighting, conceived primarily as a reading lamp. The circular base brings stability to the ensemble and reinforces the sense of visual balance. Design details include the integration of the switch in the tube itself, the small optical element at the upper end and the discreet metal fittings, resolved with technical precision.
The red lacquered finish responds to Pehrson's interest in introducing color as an essential element of industrial design, breaking with the usual neutrality of domestic lighting of the time. This chromatic bet, together with the formal purity of the piece, turns the lamp into a functional as well as sculptural object.
An emblematic piece of Swedish design of the seventies, suitable both as a reading lamp and as a source of ambient light. Especially appreciated by collectors of modern lighting and Scandinavian design, the Tuben model stands out for its iconic character, its constructive quality and its aesthetic validity.
